Bioluminescent Algae

Glowing algae is a beautiful occurrence.

They are made of groups of tiny algae. When their surroundings move, e.g. when waves or when they touch the shore, they activate their defense mechanism.

Many chemical processes occur in their bodies, resulting in beautiful blue light. Lucefyrin molecules are responsible for them. Bioillumination is a Phenomenon experienced by over 80% of deep-sea animals.
Fireflies are an example of Bioillumination on the surface.

In California, the water turns rusty, but at night it shows its beautiful face, this happens every few years - red tide.

Some of them are dangerous in high concentrations and marine organisms stay away from them. However, they attract people who are unaware of the danger. Swimming in water with algae results in skin infection.
